What do skin treatments at Age Amazingly involve?

Every treatment plan starts with a complimentary consultation with a registered health practitioner, who will explain what each option involves, its risks and recovery, and whether it is suitable for you.

Treatment Options

Eight treatments, always personalised

These treatments use laser and energy-based devices. Each carries risks as well as possible benefits, which are summarised further down this page and discussed in full at your consultation.

Ultraformer MPT 4 HIFU
01. MPT-4 HIFU

Ultraformer MPT (4)

The Ultraformer MPT 4 is a micro-focused ultrasound system used in aesthetic medicine. It delivers focused ultrasound energy below the skin and may help the appearance of firmness, without surgery. Your clinician will explain the expected recovery for your treatment. Each session is planned according to your skin type, treatment area, and individual goals.

Read moreRead less about Ultraformer MPT

MPT stands for micro pulse technology. Ultraformer MPT 4 delivers focused ultrasound energy at selected depths beneath the skin while leaving the surface of the skin intact, so there is no wound to heal and no peeling afterwards. The energy prompts the skin’s own collagen response over the following weeks.

What may it be considered for?

Focused ultrasound may be considered where the concern is firmness rather than surface texture, for example:

  • Jawline definition and the appearance of jowls
  • Heavy looking brows and upper eyelids
  • Early looseness under the chin
  • Crepey looking skin on the neck or decolletage

Results vary from person to person.

How long does a session take?

A session usually takes 30 to 90 minutes depending on the size of the area being treated.

Is there any downtime?

For most people there is no meaningful downtime. Some redness, mild swelling or tenderness can occur and usually settles within hours to a day.

Your clinician will assess your skin and discuss whether focused ultrasound suits you during your complimentary consultation.

Etherea fractional laser resurfacing
02. Etherea

Etherea Fractional Erbium Laser Resurfacing

A fractional erbium laser system used to treat surface texture and tone. It may help the appearance of uneven texture and tone. Settings are chosen for your skin type and the area being treated.

Understanding Our Laser Options

Ablative

Laser Resurfacing (Ablative)

Ablative laser resurfacing removes a fine layer of skin to treat surface texture. Expect around 4 days of downtime as the skin heals, and sometimes longer.

Your clinician will explain the recovery and risks in detail before treatment.

Non-ablative

Laser Glow Treatment & Carbon Laser Facial (Non-Ablative)

Non-ablative options may help skin clarity and tone, with less downtime than ablative resurfacing. Temporary redness is common. To prepare your skin, avoid active skincare ingredients such as retinoids and exfoliating acids for at least one week prior to your treatment.

Your skin will be assessed first to check that the treatment suits you.

Your clinician will recommend the option that suits your skin type and goals during your complimentary consultation.

Tixel heat-based skin treatment device
03. Tixel

Tixel Treatment

Tixel is a heat-based device that may help the appearance of uneven texture and fine lines. Treatment intensity is tailored to your comfort level and skin condition.

Read moreRead less about Tixel

Tixel uses controlled thermal energy, delivered through a medical grade titanium tip in a fractional pattern, and may help the appearance of overall skin quality.

What can Tixel help with?

Tixel may help improve the appearance of:

  • Fine lines
  • Uneven texture
  • Enlarged pores
  • Pigmentation
  • Sun-damaged or dull-looking skin

Results vary from person to person.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime varies depending on the treatment intensity and your individual skin response. Redness, warmth, dryness or light flaking may occur for several days following treatment.

Your skin therapist will assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate treatment approach for your individual needs.

HydraFacial treatment
04. HydraFacial

HydraFacial

HydraFacial is a soothing, non-invasive treatment that cleanses, exfoliates, and hydrates in one session. It may help skin feel cleaner and more hydrated.

Read moreRead less about HydraFacial

Cleanse. Exfoliate. Hydrate.

HydraFacial is a non-invasive facial treatment designed to deeply cleanse, exfoliate and hydrate the skin, while helping to improve the appearance of congestion, uneven texture, dullness and dehydration. Downtime is usually minimal, although temporary redness can occur.

How does it work?

HydraFacial uses a specialised vortex technology to gently cleanse and exfoliate the skin, while simultaneously extracting impurities from pores and infusing the skin with hydrating and nourishing serums. Think of it as a mini whirlpool: the spiral flow glides across the skin to help dislodge congestion rather than just scraping over the surface. The treatment is customised to your skin’s needs, making it suitable for a range of skin types and concerns.

Who is it suited for?

HydraFacial is suitable for most skin types and is particularly beneficial for skin that feels congested, dull, dehydrated, rough or uneven in texture.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime is usually minimal. Your skin may appear slightly pink or flushed immediately afterwards, but this generally settles quickly. Most clients can return to their usual activities straight away.

Your skin therapist will assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate treatment approach and frequency for your individual needs.

07. Skin Needling

Skin Needling

Our skin needling treatments use medical-grade microneedling, sometimes combined with serums such as NCTF and the Pink Treatment, and may help the appearance of uneven texture. Your clinician will tailor the combination to your skin’s specific goals.

Read moreRead less about skin needling

Needling is a skin treatment designed to stimulate your skin’s natural repair process and encourage the production of collagen and elastin. Using a device with very fine needles, controlled micro-channels are created in the skin, triggering a healing response that can help improve the skin’s overall texture, tone and firmness.

What can skin needling help with?

Needling is suited to a range of skin concerns including:

  • Fine lines
  • The appearance of acne scarring and uneven texture
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin tone and pigmentation
  • Loss of firmness and elasticity
  • Overall dull or tired-looking skin

Any change develops gradually over the weeks after treatment, varies from person to person and is not guaranteed.

What is the downtime?

Downtime is generally minimal, although this can vary depending on the intensity of your treatment and your individual skin. It’s normal to experience some redness, warmth or mild sensitivity immediately afterwards, similar to a mild sunburn. The skin may feel tight or dry for a few days, with light flaking or peeling possible.

Most clients can return to their usual activities within 24 to 48 hours, although your skin may continue to look slightly pink for a little longer. We’ll provide you with aftercare instructions to support healing.

Needling is suitable for many skin types, but every skin is different. Your skin will be assessed before treatment so we can determine whether needling is appropriate for you and tailor the treatment to your individual concerns and goals.

By choosing this treatment you are committing to lifelong sun protection. Daily sunscreen use is essential to maintain your results and protect your skin’s long-term health.

Combination Treatments

When one technology isn’t the whole answer

For some clients, our clinicians may suggest combining treatments, such as the Ultraformer MPT 4 with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). Combining treatments can add to the recovery time and risks, which your clinician will explain.

PRP is prepared from a sample of your own blood immediately before use. Your clinician will review your suitability, outline realistic timeframes, and guide you through what to expect.

Risks and Recovery

Possible risks and side effects

Every treatment on this page can cause side effects. The common and less common ones are summarised below.

  • Ultraformer MPT (HIFU): redness, swelling, tenderness, tingling or a bruised feeling are common and usually settle within hours to days. Less commonly, bruising, temporary numbness or altered sensation, nerve irritation, raised lines or welts, and burns or blistering can occur. HIFU is not suitable for people with a pacemaker or implanted defibrillator.
  • Ablative laser resurfacing (Etherea): redness, swelling, weeping, crusting and peeling for several days are expected. Risks include infection (including a flare of cold sores), darker or lighter patches of skin, prolonged redness, acne flares and, rarely, scarring. Pigment changes are more likely in darker skin types.
  • Non-ablative laser (Laser Glow, Carbon Laser Facial): temporary redness, warmth and sensitivity are common. Less commonly, swelling, changes in pigmentation, blistering or burns can occur.
  • Tixel: redness, warmth, dryness, flaking and a faint grid pattern can last for several days. Less commonly, swelling, changes in pigmentation, blistering or infection can occur.
  • HydraFacial: temporary redness or sensitivity can occur. Less commonly, irritation or breakouts.
  • Omnilux Medical LED: generally well tolerated. Temporary redness or warmth can occur, eye protection is worn, and it may not suit people taking certain medicines that increase sensitivity to light.
  • Skin needling and the Pink Treatment: redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding, tightness, dryness and flaking are common for a few days. Less commonly, bruising, infection, breakouts, a reaction to products applied to the skin, changes in pigmentation and, rarely, scarring can occur.

Combining treatments can add to the recovery time and risks. Sun protection is important after all of these treatments.

This is not a complete list. Your clinician will explain the risks that apply to you, and answer your questions, before you consent to treatment. If you have concerns after a treatment, contact the clinic. In an emergency, call 000.
