Adaptogens, What are they?

 

Ask me a number of years ago ‘What Are Adaptogens’ and I wouldn’t have had a clue what you were talking about. Today however, adaptogens play a key role in my overall health and wellbeing.

Adaptogens are defined as non-toxic plants that assist the body to resist stress of different kinds, including physical, chemical or biological. Adaptogens consist of various herbs and roots which have been used for centuries in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine.

I discovered adaptogens during a period of illness where I was searching for answers to assist with my energy and fatigue.

My Story and How Adaptogens Helped Me
I was burnt out, fatigued, struggling to get through the day and extremely stressed. I didn’t ever know if I would get my health back and I wasn’t enjoying the life I was living. Anxiety was debilitating me along with ongoing fatigue.

I spent hours reading many articles on all my symptoms and strategies to assist. Doctors, psychologists and alternative practitioners became a regular part of life. I had tried various nutritional products and medications. Some helped, some didn’t, it was all a new experience and very much trial and error.

In 2014 I was shown a nutritional system that had one particular product that caught my attention especially. It was created for stress, energy and mental clarity. It also contained many of the ingredients I had read about. At the time I was at a point of desperation, so I gave it a go.

This certainly wasn’t a magic cure and I am not implying it fixed or treated my issues. However, due to improved energy and better mental clarity I was able to work through my thoughts and do the mental work required without complete overwhelm. Over a number of months I found my energy, stress levels and mental health improving as I worked on my mindset each day.

6 years on and I still use these same products as energy, stress and mental clarity is still essential to maintain each and everyday. I am extremely grateful to have stumbled across these traditional plants that have been so beneficial to my health and wellbeing.
