Tixel
Post CareWhat to expect after your Tixel treatment:
- You will have a feeling of heat similar to ‘sunburn’ for 1-5 hours post treatment (usually 1-2 hours).
- Expect to have some redness for 1-3 days. The amount of redness will depend on the settings used and no. Of passes.
- Mild to moderate swelling for 2-4 days post treatment
- You may notice a dot pattern on treated skin areas.
- Your skin can feel like ‘sand paper’ as it restores itself.
- Treated areas will settle within about 4 days post treatment.
- Treatments to the neck, décolleté and hands will take longer, up to 6 days.
Please note if you have had your eye area targeted, there may be noticeable swelling for up to 4 days. Sleeping propped with 2 pillows and regular application of cold compresses helps to reduce the swelling.
What to do after your Tixel treatment:
- Drink plenty of fluids to hydrate the skin.

- Spray the treated area as needed to reduce the sensation of heat and dryness, using any thermal spring water spray.

- Avoid very hot baths or showers for 24 hours post treatment.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours post treatment.
- Sleep slightly propped for the first 24–48-hour post treatment to the reduce the amount of swelling. This is especially important if the eyes have been specifically targeted.

- Mild to moderate exfoliation usually from day 3 post treatment
- Do not Wash the treated area until the following day.
- Do not use exfoliants or any abrasive substances for 3 weeks post treatment.
- Do not restart retinoids or glycolics for 5-7 days post treatments (discuss this with your Dr)
- Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol as both negatively impact on treatment efficacy and increase post treatment “down-time”.
Are any complications or side effects possible?
Side effects of the treatment include but are not limited to: skin redness, a mild burning/stinging sensation, small skin crusting, mild swelling, transient or permanent pigmentation changes (paler or darker areas) to the skin colour, infection and scarring (very rare). The risk of an adverse treatment outcome following treatment is infinitesimally low as compared with other modalities of treatment for skin rejuvenation.
